Backers have pledged a total of $86 Million to film and video projects on Kickstarter to date. Need I say it? That’s a ton of money!

About 40 percent of those projects were successful, and because of that, project starters get to create movies, short films, web series and more for the world to enjoy.

But just think for a second if those project starters spent all of that pledged money on an island instead of creating something awesome for all of us to share.

They could buy this:

money pledged to film and video projects, money pledged to kickstarter film projects, how much have kickstarter video projects raised, money pledged to film and video projects

The Omfori Island in Greece. No big deal, right?

And if you did buy it, you’d still have enough money left over to buy an entire archipleago in Australia: The Duke Group.

My own archipelago? Yeah, I’m OK with that.

Crowdfunding is raising money for a gigantic number of projects in astronomical amounts, and thankfully, it’s going to projects that will build community both on and off the screen.

What do you think? Would you buy an island with $86 Million?
