Mashable Talks Kickstarter, ThingsWeStart Mapping Tools
3September 11, 2012 by thingswestart
Mashable picked up on ThingsWeStart and had some great things to say about the usability and function of our map.
Kickstarter has helped entrepreneurs raise money to solve countless real world problems, but it has yet to solve a more basic problem with its own site: How do you sort through all the latest Kickstarter projects to find the ones that are most relevant to you?
That’s where ThingsWeStart.com comes in.
We’re all pretty big fans of Mashable already, so this article was quite the pleasant surprise to stumble upon, especially considering all the positivity written into it.
One commenter named Steve Lee even wrote:
“Wow what a cool application. I[t] makes viewing the projects so much easier. You can support your hometown projects or other stuff. I think this will be big…”
Thanks, Steve! And thanks Mashable!
We’re looking forward to helping people find projects they love in places they love.
What do you like best about the ThingsWeStart map?

C’mon, if the map is going to work for New York City, you need to map by zip code. A concentric circle of pins all each borough, doesn’t give me enough granularity to know what’s “local”. Zoom in way, way more on the city and plop those pins by zip code, if not by street address!
Hi efish134! First, thanks for stopping by, checking us out, and commenting. That’s definitely a good suggestion- we’ll pass it along to the dev team and see what we can do. You’ll be the first to know if anything happens!
Yeah, I really wish we could do this too! Unfortunately Kickstarter only asks project owner’s what city their project is in, so we don’t actually have data on where specifically the projects are located.
We will keep you posted if we get access to additional information.
